TVN entertainment’You Quiz on the Block’ (You Quiz) apologized, saying, “I was greatly disappointed by the ignorance of the production team” as viewers raised questions about the performers of medical students from science high school.
On the 11th, the production crew of’You Quiz’ through an official social network service (SNS) account said, “Last broadcast was planned to convey how each person has lived with something valuable in their lives.” “I am sorry to leave a bad memory for the performer who did it.”
“The production team started to look back and reflect on many things. In the future, I will make a broadcast that keeps pace with the trend of the times and breathes with the emotions of the viewers.”
‘You Quiz’ recruited performers from Gyeonggi Science High School who simultaneously passed 6 medical schools in the special feature of’Damda’ broadcast on the 6th. This performer, who is currently attending Seoul National University’s medical school, said on the broadcast that he aimed to apply for medical school when he was in high school, saying, “I did 215 hours of medical volunteer work to enter medical school.”
Since then, some viewers have raised the opinion that it is inappropriate for graduates of science high school, which are operated by tax for the purpose of fostering scientific talent, to convey the know-how of entering medical school.
Earlier, the Ministry of Education urged each office of education in 2016 to come up with a plan to curb the admission of gifted and science high school students to medical school.
