Hwang Hee-chan (25) of Leipzig, the German professional football Bundesliga, broke the goal after about six months.

Hwang Hee-chan scored a key goal in the 43rd minute of the second half, ahead of the team 1-0 in the quarterfinal match of the German Football Association (DFB) Focal Cup against Wolfsburg at the Red Bull Arena in Leipzig on the 4th (Korean time). The team finished in the semifinals two years after 2019, after defeating Wolfsburg 2-0 and winning runner-up in the tournament.

Hwang Hee-chan, who was substituted in the 39th minute of the second half, scored the second goal of the season in 4 minutes. Hwang Hee-chan, who moved to Leipzig this season, has been unable to raise his attack points for about six months after scoring one goal and one help in the first round of the Focal Cup against Nuremberg (second division) in September last year.

Leipzig seated Hwang Hee-chan on the bench in the first half, followed by Yusuf Poulsen in the front, Christofer Nkunku, Dani Olmo, and Justin Klawibert in the second line. However, he couldn’t score a goal. In the 23rd minute of the first half, Leipzig scored a penalty for a foul by Nkunku, but kicker Baut Behorst missed the ball.

In Leipzig, however, in the 18th minute of the second half, Foulsen flooded into the penalty area and scored the first goal with a right-footed shot. In the 39th minute of the second half, Hwang Hee-chan, who was substituted with Nkunku, kicked a shot from fellow Emil Forsbury shot by the opposing goalkeeper back into the post with his right foot.

Meanwhile, Hwang Eui-jo (29) of France’s League-en Girondin Bordeaux started as a one-top striker in the home game against Paris Saint-Germain at the Nouveau Stade de Bordeaux and played 65 minutes before being replaced by Atem Ben Arfa in the second half of the 20th minute. The attack point could not be raised. Bordeaux scored the winning goal by Pablo Sarabia and lost 0-1, winning only 7 games (1 draw and 6 losses).
