The interior of the old house of Cheongun-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul, where the 20th anniversary ceremony of Hyundai Group’s honorary chairman Chung Ju-young of Asan was held on the 20th. On the left side of the ancestral statue is the Youngjeong of Han Sung-sil, the mother of Honorary Chairman Chung, and the Youngjeong of Honorary Chairman Chung and his wife Jung-seok Byeon on the left side of the piano. No one currently lives in the home of the Cheongun-dong, where Honorary Chairman Chung lived from 1962 to 2000. Hyundai Motor Group is considering using it as a memorial hall for Jung Ju-young or a place to invite outside personnel.

On the 21st, in celebration of the 20th anniversary of the honorary chairman of Hyundai Group, Chung Ju-young of Asan, members of the late Hyundai Street visited the old home of Honorary Chairman Chung, Cheongun-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul on the evening of the 20th. Two or three people visited one after another and held a ritual in order to keep the measure of banning groups of more than 5 people according to Corona 19.
The first of all attended the ceremony was Eui-sun Eui-sun, chairman of Hyundai Motor Group, the eldest son of Honorary Chairman Chung. Chairman Chung is also the current owner of the Cheong Undong home. The sons of Honorary Chairman Chung Mong-joon Chung, Chairman of the Asan Social Welfare Foundation, Chairman Chung Mong-yoon, Hyundai Marine Corp. Chairman Chung Mong-il, and Hyundai Corporate Finance CEO Chung Mong-il visited one after another and returned after a rite. Hyeon Jung-eun, the daughter-in-law of the honorary chairman Chung, and his nephew Chung Mong-won, chairman of Halla Group, his grandchildren Jeong Il-sun, president of Hyundai B&G Steel, Jung Ki-sun, vice president of Hyundai Heavy Industries Holdings, Jeong Seong, advisor to Innocene, and her husband Sang-hoon Sang-hoon, chairman of Daejeonsun Hospital. Dae-sun Jung Dae-sun, the mother of Hyundai BS&C’s president, Lee Haeng-ja and former KBS announcer Noh Hyun-jung, also attended and commemorated the deceased. Chung Mong-koo, honorary chairman of Hyundai Motor Group, was absent this year following last year.
The family also held a ritual for the deceased’s wife, Byeon Joong-seok. The date is August 16, but from last year, it was decided to combine honorary chairman Chung and rites. Since the 9th anniversary of Byun’s 9th anniversary in August 2015, the modern family moved the ritual from his home in Cheongun-dong, Jongno-gu to the home of honorary chairman Jeong Mong-gu, Hannam-dong, Yongsan-gu, and has been living again in the 12th anniversary of Byeon’s Cheongdong Movement in August 2019.
On this day, in celebration of the 20th anniversary of Honorary Chairman Chung, Hyundai Motor Group revealed the interior and exterior of the Cheongundong home in exceptional detail. On the first floor, beside the ancestral statue, Honorary Chairman Jeong’s mother, Sung-sil Han’s Youngjeong, and Honorary Chairman Chung and Mr. Byun’s Youngjeong hang side by side on the left wall. On the quarry in the yard,’Yangsan-dongcheon’ (a place with good sunlight and beautiful scenery to live in), and’Namgeoyugeo’ (a house where Nam-ju Jang Ho-jin resides) are engraved.
The visit to Sunyeong, Changu-dong, Hanam-si, Gyeonggi-do, was reduced to a small size of less than five people, similar to the ceremony on this day. Earlier, during the 19th anniversary of last year, the visit to Sunyeong was canceled due to the spread of Corona 19.
