[서울신문] Installation of hydrogen charging stations at gas stations and tourist sites at the request of the minister

The world’s first’hydrogen law’ enforcement… The shortage will be better

The situation where he was reluctant to purchase hydrogen cars due to the shortage of hydrogen charging stations is expected to improve.

The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy announced on the 4th that the world’s first’Hydrogen Economy Promotion and Hydrogen Safety Management Act’ (Hydrogen Act) will be enforced from the 5th.

With the implementation of the hydrogen law, a new hydrogen-specialized enterprise identification system is introduced. A hydrogen specialized company refers to a company whose hydrogen business-related sales or hydrogen business-related research and development (R&D) share of total sales meet a certain standard. The government provides administrative and financial support such as R&D demonstration and overseas expansion to hydrogen specialized companies.

A system for requesting installation of hydrogen charging stations and fuel cells will also be introduced. The Minister of Industry may request the operator of 21 facilities, including gas stations, LPG charging stations, airports, industrial complexes, logistics complexes, and highway rest facilities, to install charging stations, and the facility operator who received the request must comply with the request unless there is a special reason. The Minister of Industry may also request the installation of fuel cells from the institutions subject to request for the installation of hydrogen charging stations, local public enterprises, municipal offices of education, hospitals and schools. The requested facility operator should follow this also unless there is a special reason.

There is also a system to report the selling price of hydrogen at hydrogen filling stations. The hydrogen charging station operator must report the selling price of hydrogen to the agency in charge of hydrogen distribution (Korea Gas Corporation) through the website from the 5th. KOGAS plans to disclose the hydrogen sales price of each charging station on the website like the oil price information system (Opinet).

Designation of a hydrogen-specialized complex and a pilot project become possible. The Ministry of Industry may designate a’hydrogen-specialized complex’ that integrates hydrogen companies and related supporting facilities and supports the development and supply of hydrogen cars and fuel cells, and related facilities. When the provincial governor applies for the designation of the complex, it is confirmed after review by the evaluation committee of the Ministry of Industry and deliberation by the Hydrogen Economy Committee.
