Korean men’s figure skating signboard Cha Jun-hwan (20, Korea University) took 8th place in the International Ice Skating Federation (ISU) World Championship Short Program and stepped closer to acquiring two tickets to the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics.

Cha Jun-hwan ranked 8th in the men’s single at the 2021 ISU Figure Skating World Championships held at the Ericsson Globe in Stockholm, Sweden on the 26th (Korean time) with 91.15 points combined with 49.80 points in technical score (TES) and 41.35 points in art score (PCS). .

ISU will award tickets to the Beijing Olympics by country based on the results of this competition. When one player from a country competes, 3 tickets for runners-up and 2 tickets for the 3rd to 10th place are given. Cha Jun-hwan, who successfully entered the top 10, will secure two Beijing Olympics quarters if he maintains his ranking in single free skating on the 27th.

Cha Jun-hwan also challenges Korea’s best men’s singles at the World Championships. The highest grade of all time was 14th by Jeong Seong-il in 1991.

Cha Jun-hwan, the first in group 5, played vigorously in line with the short program Dark Pastoral. The first jump task and special move, Quadruple Salko (4 rounds), was handled neatly and scored 9.70 points and 2.49 GOE points.
