The police investigating the case of former chairman of the Korea Professional Baseball Players Association (Athlete Association) Lee Dae-ho (Lotte Giants), who were accused of being assigned a job, determined that President Lee Dae-ho and related personnel were not suspicious.

According to the police on the 7th, the Seocho Police Department in Seoul decided on the 31st of last month to dismiss all the suspects, including former chairman Lee Dae-ho, former secretary general Kim Tae-hyun, and advisory attorney Oh Dong-hyun, and closed the case.

According to the adjustment of the investigative powers that have been in place since the beginning of this year, the police can conclude the case without sending it to the prosecution if it determines that the alleged crime is not admitted.

Earlier, on December 15, last year, the sports civic group People and Movement (representative attorney Park Ji-hoon) raised suspicions that former chairman Lee Dae-ho, former secretary general Kim Tae-hyun, and attorney Oh Dong-hyeon illegally received remuneration and sales commissions, and that they performed accounting audits at a high price. He filed a complaint with the Seoul Central District Prosecutors’ Office. The case was transferred to the police at the end of last year.

At the end of last year, controversy arose when former chairman Lee Dae-ho was informed that he had received a personal account for the boarding fee increased from 24 million to 60 million won. Former chairman Lee Dae-ho took responsibility for this and resigned from the position of chairman, and former secretary-general Kim Tae-hyun was dismissed.

At the time, former chairman Lee Dae-ho explained that he had raised the board of directors’ expenses due to the approval of the majority of the club and the board’s decision while players were reluctant to serve as president. However, in fact, there were also refutations that it was the result of former chairman Lee Dae-ho’s request for an increase in the cost of sales.

A police official said, “I contacted the accusers several times, but they did not attend the police continuously, and the investigation was terminated because they were not able to specify the crime.”
