Samsung Electronics’ new work’Galaxy S21′

Samsung Electronics’ first strategic smartphone this year, the’Galaxy S21′ series, is like an incorrect answer note. The first strategic smartphone, the Galaxy S20, which was released after Roh Tae-moon, head of the wireless business division (president) was raised as the “head of Samsung smartphones,” yielded disappointing results compared to expectations, but this time, the shortcomings were greatly compensated for and released.

When I first saw the real thing of the Galaxy S21 series on the 17th, the first thing I noticed was the design. In the Galaxy S20 Ultra, the rear camera module protruded as high as 3 credit cards stacked, but the Galaxy S21 was slightly lowered to about 2 credit cards. In this way, the appearance of’Katuk-tu’ (the shape of the camera protruding) was greatly eased, and the’contour cut’ design was applied to smoothly connect from the body to the metal frame and the rear camera to add refinement. In particular, even though the material of the back cover of the device is made of glass, it has been post-processed to prevent fingerprints from getting on, giving a clean image.

The camera complemented the 100x zoom function. This feature, which was first introduced on the Galaxy S20 Ultra, was good for showing off technology, but it was not easy for the general public to use it properly. Even if my hand shakes a little, the screen shakes and I could not capture the subject properly. The’fixed zoom’ function was added to the Galaxy S21, which greatly improved the screen shake.

What I like most is the price range. The basic Galaxy S21 (99 million won) was released for the first time with a Samsung Electronics 5G smartphone under 1 million won. It is about 250,000 won cheaper than the previous one. The Galaxy S21 Ultra, armed with an S Pen, also came out in two options: 1.45 million won and 1.59 million won. The cost was reduced by changing the material of the device and not providing a charger and earphone.

In this regard, Patrick Chaumet, vice president of the wireless business division, said in the newsroom of Samsung Electronics, “with the S21 series as the starting point, we focused on the value of’relieving’. It is expected that we will continue to take bold challenges in consideration of the environment gradually.” He revealed that it also considered environmental issues caused by discarded chargers and earphones.

Among the three Galaxy S21 models, the Galaxy S21 Ultra has applied the mobile writing instrument’S Pen’ for the first time in the Galaxy series. Unlike the Galaxy Note, the S Pen cannot be stored inside the device, and the ability to take pictures from a distance using the S Pen like a remote control was not possible on the Galaxy S21 Ultra. It is expected that the’S Pen Pro’ will be released in the future.

In this regard, President Roh Tae-moon said, “As we expand the S Pen experience into various categories in the future, we will actively listen to various opinions of consumers and continue to provide product innovation and the best mobile experience.”

There were also some interesting features. If you take a video with the’Director’s View’ function, the photographer’s face is displayed on the screen together, and if you edit the captured photo with the’Erase Object’ function, you can remove even the appearance of a specific subject that is annoying on the screen with a single touch.

However, it is unfortunate that it is difficult to clearly select the innovative functions that represent the Galaxy S21. Since the evolution of smartphones is now heading toward the’form factor’ (device type) such as foldables and rollables, the’bar’ shaped smartphones are showing limitations in renewing every year. It is certainly better than the previous work, but how to persuade those who think that their smartphones are sufficient seems to be the key to the box office success. It is officially released on the 29th.
