AstraZeneca vaccination will begin tomorrow for residents and workers aged 65 or older in nursing hospitals.

The government has concluded that there is no problem with the AstraZeneca safety controversy, and releases specific results of the review this afternoon.

Let’s connect the reporters who are on the scene. Reporter Kim Woo-jun!

From tomorrow, vaccinations will begin for seniors aged 65 or older at nursing hospitals. The hospital is also in the midst of preparations?

[기자]

That’s right.

The place where I am out is the General Affairs Department in the main building of the nursing hospital.

Staff at the back provide detailed guidance to patient caregivers one day ahead of vaccination.

Call directly to inform you of your vaccination status, and fully explain your concerns and questions.

You can see a refrigerator inside the Wonmu Department.

The AstraZeneca vaccine is stored here.

At this nursing hospital, more than 240 people will get the AstraZeneca vaccine starting tomorrow.

Nearly 90% of the 268 subjects agreed to the vaccination.

A total of 376,000 residents and workers aged 65 or older in nursing hospitals and nursing facilities nationwide are eligible for this vaccination.

In nursing hospitals, if the vaccine is delivered directly, a full-time doctor residing in the hospital will pre-examine and inoculate itself.

In nursing homes where vaccination begins on the 30th, vaccinations are performed by staff of public health centers belonging to each ward office visiting the facility or by seniors visiting the local public health center.

The government established AstraZeneca vaccination interval standard of 10 weeks.

Therefore, the subjects of this vaccination will receive the second vaccination from the first week of June, 3 months later.

In addition to hospitals and facilities, the government plans to complete vaccinations within two quarters of 111.5 million people, including seniors, special education workers, health teachers, police, and military personnel.

There were some concerns about the stability of AstraZeneca, but the government concluded that there was no problem, right?

[기자]

That’s right.

The government previously planned to give vaccinations before medical staff because the elderly 65 years of age or older are vulnerable to group infection and the mortality rate is high when infected.

However, the vaccination was withheld for a while due to lack of data to determine the effectiveness of the AstraZeneca vaccine.

In the midst of this, there have been concerns about a’thrombosis’ in which blood clots and lumps are formed related to AstraZeneca.

The government authorities took full account of public unrest and took time to review stability over time.

As a result, I came to a clear conclusion that there were no problems.

The government also saw that the AstraZeneca vaccination was not related to the formation of blood clots, even by the European Medicines Agency.

He explained that the WHO vaccination recommendations and cases of adverse reactions at home and abroad were carefully reviewed.

Prime Minister Chung Sye-gyun will present the results of a detailed review of vaccine safety this afternoon to completely end AstraZeneca’s mistrust.

To date, more than 650,000 people have completed the first vaccination,

About 600,000 people, about 90% of them, received the AstraZeneca vaccine.
