The government explained that the reason for maintaining the current distance 2.5 step is to wait for the effect of special quarantine measures in a situation where the amount of movement in the metropolitan area decreases.

On the day the 2.5th step of distance from the metropolitan area began, there were 594 new patients nationwide, of which 385 were in the metropolitan area.
As of the next 20 days, the number of new patients has rather nearly doubled.
Although it has been confirmed that the spread of the 2.5th step has not been prevented, the government has decided to extend the 2.5th step further by 6 days, hoping for the recently expanded medical capacity and the quarantine measures for the year-end and New Year holidays.

The government said that there is a marked decrease in the amount of movement in the metropolitan area, where 60-70% of patients occur.
The number of movements on the weekend two weeks ago and one week ago was estimated at 24,000 each, the lowest level since the Corona 19 epidemic, the government explained.
It also said that the infectious reproduction index, which indicates how many people with prior confirmed cases, infect them also fell from 1.27 to 1.07.
