About 3 weeks have passed since the temporary screening office in the metropolitan area was established. What is the situation now?

[기자]

From the morning, I saw citizens who came for examination.

It’s not as crowded as when it was first set up.

The temporary screening office in the metropolitan area, which was originally until yesterday, was operated for two more weeks as the social distancing was extended.

Even if there is no history of symptoms and contact with a confirmed person, anyone can get the test for free until the 17th.

Until now, 188 such inspection stations have been installed in 153 places in the metropolitan area and 35 places in the non-metropolitan area.

The quarantine authorities assessed that more than 2,000 confirmed cases were found in advance during the last three weeks when the metropolitan area inspection center was operating.

Yesterday, more than 23,000 cases were conducted, and 137 people were tested positive.

There were 680,000 cases of nasopharyngeal smear PCR using a sample collected from the nose, accounting for 97% of anonymous tests.

Previously, saliva tests and rapid antigen tests were available, but saliva tests with low preference are excluded during extended periods of operation.

In consideration of cold weather and fatigue of field workers, the operating hours of the inspection office will also be reduced from 9 am to 5 pm on weekdays and from 9 am to 1 pm on weekends.

The number of inspection stations will also be adjusted for each local government according to the inspection performance and site conditions.

We plan to reduce the number of inspection offices in the metropolitan area from 153 to 144 and dispatch additional doctors and nurses.

In the midst of this, a new group infection emerged, right?

16 people were confirmed at the regional children’s center in Gangbuk-gu, Seoul.

On the 24th of last month, a 20-year-old who used this facility was confirmed after staying here for 3 days.

Refreshment meetings were also held with other officials, at which time the facility officials and their families were confirmed.

It is a facility that provides care to middle and high school students, and it was found that one middle school student was also confirmed.

The quarantine authorities have closed the facility and are conducting inspections on contacts.

Infections are also appearing in facilities with many elderly people who are susceptible to infection.

At a nursing hospital in Gyeyang-gu, Incheon, a group infection was found in which 43 people were confirmed.

Seven people, including nursing care caregivers and nursing assistants, were confirmed and carried out a full examination, and 36 more were infected within a day.

Incheon city plans to quarantine hospitals in the same group and move confirmed patients to nearby hospitals in turn.

Six more people were confirmed at the nursing hospital in Guro-gu, Seoul, where the outbreak has already occurred.

With 4 patients, 4 residents, and 1 worker, the cumulative confirmed number was 206.

Eleven people were also added at the Welfare Facility for the Disabled in Songpa-gu, Seoul, and the cumulative number of confirmed patients has increased to 71 so far.

As infections continued in vulnerable facilities like this, the government expanded all-inclusive tests to receive diagnostic tests once a week for workers in nursing and psychiatric hospitals nationwide.
