Temporary screening clinics will be shortened and operated mainly in the metropolitan area for four days from today due to a severe cold wave.

We will connect the site situation and reporters to find out. Reporter Park Hee-jae!

Temporary screening clinic opening hours are coming to an end soon?

[기자]

Yes, it is.

This temporary screening clinic opened at 11am, which was delayed by two hours from usual.

And it will be closed at around 3pm, 30 minutes later.

With a severe cold wave coming, the government decided to shorten the temporary screening clinic for four days from today to protect the health of medical staff and others.

It seems that the decrease in the number of feet for examination due to the cold also affected.

In the case of the Health Center in Yangcheon-gu, Seoul, the number of tests per day averaged about 1,000 until the end of last year, but as this year began, the number of tests decreased to 600.

Although the number of tests decreased, it became more difficult for medical staff to conduct tests as the weather got colder.

This temporary screening clinic is largely divided into waiting, reception, and sample collection tents.

The’walking mobile’ clinic has an open tent, so you can work outdoors for a long time in cold weather.

Following Corona 19, medical staff are now struggling with cold waves.

Let’s have a medical staff and listen to the talk.

Good morning. Today, please tell us what kind of task you were in charge of at the walking screening clinic.

Samples are being collected for corona screening.

[기자]

Today, for the first time, we started short-running operation, and how has your work changed compared to before?

[박현수 / 코로나19 선별진료소 의료진]

Because the weather was cold, the number of examinees decreased. I think I gave it one third. So, I am running a shortened operation, but since my work is the same every day, there is not much disruption to my work.

[기자]

And the weather has become very cold. Protective clothing is not such a thick protective clothing, so please tell me how difficult it is to work.

[박현수 / 코로나19 선별진료소 의료진]

The weather is very cold right now, so the protective clothing is also cold. Especially since I sterilize with alcohol every time, my hands are sore and my head is sore.

[기자]

Even while you’re talking now, the weather is so cold that you have to touch the hot pack with your hands.

[박현수 / 코로나19 선별진료소 의료진]

I hope that the corona crisis will calm down quickly so that all the people can quickly return to their daily lives.

[기자]

Thank you for your word.

In this way, medical staff wearing white protective clothing are wearing non-woven or vinyl protective clothing and thin medical gloves.

The size of the hazmat suit itself is small, so you can’t wear a thick coat like padding.

Local governments have prepared 7 stoves and hot packs to provide support, but there is nothing wrong with them.

As such, screening clinics across the country are working in similar environments.

Just as they endured in the heatwave last summer, even in this cold wave, they are silently guarding the field with a sense of mission.
