As the government secured an additional 3 million Pfizer vaccines and NovaVax completed the existing negotiations for 20 million, the number of vaccines secured in Korea increased to 79 million.

The key is the timing of supply, and the introduction of Pfizer vaccine has been advanced from the third quarter to the first and second quarters.

The additional vaccine contracted by the government is for 3 million Pfizers.

Including the original contract, the amount of Pfizer secured has increased to 13 million.

Although it is part of it, the timing of introduction was also advanced from the third quarter.

The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety is conducting a permit review, but after the national shipment approval is reached, the vaccine can be given at the latest in April.

Then, more than 370,000 people over 65 years of age, including nursing homes, could get the Pfizer vaccine.

In the first place, it was a high-risk group, so it was the top priority target for vaccination.

The contract for 20 million NovaVax vaccines, which had been negotiated, was also finalized.

It is an evaluation that there is no problem with supply in the second quarter as it is produced in Korea due to technology transfer.

As a result, the number of vaccines secured in Korea increased to 79 million people, and only a portion of Pfizer’s vaccine will be introduced in the first quarter, starting with AstraZeneca.
