Police investigators come out of the Seongnam City Hall Information and Communication Department offices with blue boxes.

In connection with the suspicion that in 2018, Seongnam Mayor Eun Soo-mi’s election camp had been illegally hired by affiliated libraries, the Gyeonggi Southern Police Agency began a search for seizure.

The search for seizure was focused on six locations, including the department where the personnel who were in charge of personnel at the time worked, and the Seohyun Library where camp volunteers were employed.

This forced investigation was aimed at securing evidence of employment in Seongnam City at the time, so Mayor Eun’s office and home were excluded from the target.

It is known that the obtained evidence included a storage device containing personnel data and official documents, and communication records.

In November of last year, former secretary of Mayor Eun Lee filed a report to the National Rights Commission of Korea, alleging employment corruption of 27 personnel from the camp.

Lee argued that the mayor had been challenged several times, asking the fraudulent recruiters to quit, but they were ignored.

Since then, Mayor Eun and the former head of the general situation office of the election camp have been accused of abuse of authority.

Earlier, in September last year, a public petition was posted asking for the truth of the allegations of fraudulent hiring by public institutions.

The petitioner in her 40s, who identified herself as a camper, claimed that nearly half of the high-competitive library officials were volunteers, and that they temporarily relaxed the test criteria and gave them preferential treatment.

##Ingest in the statement regarding suspicion of unlawful employment by Eun Soo-mi

Regarding this, Mayor Eun refuted that it was regrettable for the indiscriminate suspicion, saying that it would be necessary for the investigation agency to formally disclose it.

Based on the analysis of the confiscated material, the police plan to expand the targets of the investigation as necessary while continuing the subpoena investigation.
