The hearing of former President Park Geun-hye, who was prosecuted in the case of receiving special activity expenses from the National Intelligence Service and the National Intelligence Service, will be held on the 14th.

Earlier, he was sentenced to 20 years in prison in the remand court trial, but the sentence is expected to be finalized unless there is any change.

After being impeached and prosecuted in arrest in March 2017 for the Gukjeong Nongdan incident, former President Park Geun-hye has been tried for three years and nine months.

The charges against former President Park were 21 types, including abuse of authority involving Mr. Seo-won Choi, who was in the “disadvantageous situation”, bribery of Samsung and Lotte, charges of reimbursement for special activity expenses from the chief of the National Intelligence Service, and allegations of intervening in nominations for general elections.

Most of them were convicted and sentenced to a fine of 20 billion won and an additional premium of 2.7 billion won for 30 years in prison in the second trial after the first trial.

However, the Supreme Court, which received an appeal by the prosecution, broke this and sent the case back to the Seoul High Court.

In the case of Gukjeong Nongdan, the sentence for bribery and other charges was decided on the basis that it violated the Public Officials Election Act, which distinguished bribery crimes of public officials.

Accordingly, in July of last year, the Destruction and Refund Tribunal sentenced former President Park to a 15-year imprisonment and a fine of 18 billion won for bribery, and an additional 3.5 billion won in imprisonment for the remaining ex officio abuse charges.

As the core issues were determined in the previous appeal, there is a high possibility that 20 years of imprisonment will be finalized in the sentence for reappeal.

Former President Park was previously sentenced to two years in prison for a nomination intervention case, and is imprisoned in a Seoul detention center as a deadline.

In this situation, the fact that the Democratic Party’s representative Lee Nak-yeon talked about the’special pardon for former presidents Lee Myung-bak and Park Geun-hye’ is causing a stir.

The special pardon, which is the authority of the president, targets’those sentenced to a sentence’, and former President Lee Myung-bak, who was sentenced to 17 years in prison last year in the Supreme Court, is eligible for a special pardon.

In addition, if former President Park Geun-hye is also sentenced to 20 years in prison in the Supreme Court on the 14th, in theory, a special pardon will be possible.
