As Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol’s resignation was accepted, the Supreme Prosecutor’s Office became the deputy prosecutor Nam-gwan Cho, the deputy prosecutor of the Supreme Prosecutor’s Office.

The Supreme Prosecutors’ Office was committed to organizational stability, and decided to hold a nationwide high prosecutors’ meeting next Monday to collect opinions on the establishment of the Severe Crime Investigation Office.

As the resignation of former Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol was accepted in one day, the Supreme Prosecutors’ Office officially switched to the system of acting as the president’s office.

This is the third time that the deputy prosecutor Nam-gwan Cho takes on the role of acting as the president, following the two occasions during the disciplinary phase of former prosecutor-general Yoon Seok-yeol.

Deputy Prosecutor Cho Nam-gwan, who led the organization while the president was vacant, did not make a separate official position.

However, we are planning to hold the National High Prosecutors’ Meeting as soon as the 8th, next Monday.

The nationwide high prosecutors’ meeting was held eight months after the convocation was called to respond to the initiation of the investigation and command right in the case of the “prosecution of prosecution” by former Justice Minister Chu Mi-ae in July of last year.

At the meeting, we plan to collect opinions from high prosecutors on the bill to establish the Severe Crime Investigation Office, which was the background of the resignation of former President Yoon Seok-yeol.

In addition, a plan to stabilize the organization according to the vacancy of the president is expected to be discussed.

Considering the procedure for the appointment of the next president-elect, we need to maintain this agency for at least two months.

We are interested in what will happen to the various prosecutors’ investigations targeting the government right away, and there are voices of concern that the power of the investigation will weaken as the president who prevented the’draft’ resigned.

Representatively mentioned are the nuclear power plant investigation by the Daejeon District Prosecutors’ Office, which was heading for the upper line, such as the Blue House, and the Ulsan Mayor’s election intervention case being investigated by the Seoul Central District Prosecutors’ Office.

On the other hand, there is also a prospect that the investigation of suspicions of President Yoon Suk-yeol’s family or close associates, such as suspicion of receiving money in the name of sponsorship money, will speed up.

As former President Yoon Suk-yeol’s sudden resignation has confused the prosecution in many ways, it seems that the key to changing the atmosphere will be how quickly Acting President Cho Nam-gwan stabilizes the organization.
