[사회]’Nursing hospital residents and workers’ vaccination soon…

This Friday, the Corona 19 vaccine is finally starting in Korea.

First of all, it targets residents and workers in nursing hospitals under the age of 65, and expectations and worries are intersecting at the site before the first vaccination.

Reporter Shin Joon-myeong covered it.

This is a nursing hospital in Guro-gu, Seoul, where more than 200 confirmed cases occurred in December of last year.

At the end of last month, it was designated as a dedicated nursing hospital for Corona 19, and now it is treating elderly confirmed patients with limited mobility.

As worries about infection are great, caregivers and staff are just happy to hear that vaccination is starting.

[구로 미소들요양병원 관계자 : 전담요양병원이니까 다른 곳보다 위험률이 높아서 극히 몇 분을 제외하고는 맞겠다는 입장이시더라고요.]

The first vaccination targets were residents and workers in nursing hospitals under the age of 65, and about 360,000 people.

Of these, 93.8% agreed to the vaccination.

However, in the case of nursing hospitals, not only residents, but also workers such as nursing care workers are often 65 years or older, and some point out that this first vaccination is less effective.

[김경희 / 요양병원 입원환자 보호자 : 환자를 보살피는 분들이기 때문에 나이와 상관없이 그분들도 환자와 같이 백신을 맞아야 한다고 생각합니다.]

Following the first vaccination, the government is preparing a vaccination plan to target more than 70% of the people by September to form collective immunity.

Citizens say they should actively cooperate with the government’s quarantine plans.

[배동규 / 서울 목동 : 당연히 맞아야죠. 독감 주사처럼, 이런 경우에는 당연히 맞아야죠.]

[김인술 / 서울 등촌동 : 국가에서 검증해서 하는 거니까 믿고 맞는 것이 옳다고 생각합니다.]

There are also voices hoping that the vaccination will start and will soon return to the same routine as before.

[박송희 / 서울 창천동 : 친구들 자주 못 만나는 것도 불편하고, 마스크 매일 사는 비용도 아깝기도 하고, 마스크를 벗고 싶기도 하고 그래서 백신이 좀 많이 보편화 되면 편해지지 않을까….]

However, many people were worried about side effects and wanted to delay the vaccination time as much as possible.

[박상혁 / 서울 노고산동 : 머리가 빠진다는 그런 걸 본 적 있는 것 같은데 저도 부작용이 염려돼서 만약에 백신이 정식으로 출시된다면 사람들이 맞고 나서 맞고 싶어요.]

Vaccination begins with an intersection of worries and expectations.

All citizens are looking to see if it can be done smoothly without any other variables.
