NovaVax’s COVID-19 vaccine is evaluated as having proven effectiveness by injecting an antigenic protein that has already been made into the body, unlike products that have been released so far.

The advantage of storage and distribution is that it is less demanding than other products.

The previously developed vaccines from Pfizer, Modena, and AstraZeneca induce the production of antigenic proteins in the body by injecting genetic information into the human body.

However, NovaVax products inject antigenic proteins directly into the body to produce antibodies.

The gene of the protein on the surface of the Corona 19 virus is injected into the virus to produce a vaccine by mass-producing the protein in insect cells.

Existing influenza and hepatitis B vaccines are also manufactured in a similar manner, so their effectiveness has already been verified.

In addition, unlike vaccines such as Pfizer, which require a cryogenic cold chain of several tens of degrees below zero, NovaVax products can be stored and distributed in refrigerated conditions of 2 to 8 degrees.

As SK Bioscience produces it, it is possible to produce and store the undiluted solution in Korea, and the expiration date is expected to be up to 3 years.

Compared to the 6 months shelf life of other vaccines, the shelf life is much longer.

NovaVax vaccine has entered phase 3 clinical trials in the United States and Mexico since the end of last month.
