Yesterday, more than 760 employees and detainees at Dongbu detention center were tested for the 6th round, and 66 detainees were further confirmed.

Accordingly, the cumulative confirmed cases have been counted to 1,161 so far.

The figure includes family and acquaintances, of which 22 confirmed employees.

As for the entire correctional facilities nationwide, 1,191 people including staff and prisoners were confirmed.

This figure does not include family members and acquaintances.

Looking at the confirmed detainees by correctional facility, there are 672 people in the eastern detention center in Seoul, 341 people in North Gyeongsangbuk-do 2 prison, 16 people in Gwangju prison, 15 people in Seoul southern prison, and one each in Seoul detention center, Gangwon north prison, and Yeongwol prison.

First of all, the quarantine authorities announced on the 2nd that they formed the’Seoul Eastern Detention Center Government Joint Response Team’ on the 2nd.

The response team is conducting an epidemiological investigation to comprehensively evaluate the outbreak of outbreaks in eastern detention centers.

In addition, the quarantine authorities said that in order to reduce the density of the eastern detention center, which was overcrowded, more than 900 prisoners were transferred to other facilities five times, reducing the density to 63%.

In the case of high-rise building correction facilities such as Dongbu Detention Center, it is pointed out that it is vulnerable to group infections due to poor ventilation. Added.
