Yes, the cumulative confirmed cases related to the eastern detention center, increased by 6 from yesterday to 1,090 so far.

Seven people were waiting for the test results in the 5th total inspection at the Dongbu Detention Center on the 2nd.

A little while ago, the results came out, of which six more were confirmed.

As a result, more than 1,000 confirmed prisoners in Dongbu detention center, and more than 40 detention center employees and their families were infected.

On November 27, last year, an employee became infected, and it increased like this for a little over a month.

In the 5th full-scale examination conducted on the 2nd, a total of 126 additional people were confirmed.

These are 121 prisoners, 1 employee, and 4 prisoners who were transferred from here to Gangwon’s northern prison.

The Ministry of Justice said it would quarantine the transporters in one room per person to prevent the spread of infections related to the Eastern Detention Center.

The eastern detention center in Seoul is quite large as a single group in which the infection occurred.

It is the third and second after 5,000 people in Shincheonji in Daegu, and it is also close to 1,176 people at Sarangjeil Church in Seoul.

One employee was confirmed in Jeju prison, and the cumulative number of confirmed cases related to correctional facilities nationwide is 1,115.

The total inspection of the Eastern Detention Center has been conducted five times so far.

Each time the test was performed, three-digit confirmed cases were poured out, and additional confirmations continued.

The Ministry of Justice was belatedly trying to determine the cause.

Justice Minister Choo Mi-ae posted a post on personal social media yesterday and said that the cause is presumed to be the inability to initially filter out asymptomatic infections.

The Ministry of Justice said it had moved all prisoners who were negative by the 5th test to another correctional facility.

He explained that the masks are given to individuals one by one per day, in a bundle of 10, and that a dedicated medical staff is being used to treat them.

He also said that he would analyze the results of the total investigation and consult with the quarantine authorities to review additional total inspections.
