[사회]National High Prosecutors’ Meeting held for the third hour…

[앵커]

With the resignation of former prosecutor general Yoon Seok-yeol, the Supreme Prosecutors’ Office entered the system of acting as the president’s office, and the prosecution held a nationwide high prosecutor’s meeting today.

At the meeting, we discuss ways to stabilize the organization following the resignation of the president and collect opinions on the Serious Crime Investigation Office.

The Ministry of Justice has begun work on the appointment of a successor attorney general.

I will connect reporters. Reporter Kang Hee-kyung!

The National High Prosecutors’ Conference started at 10:30 a.m., but it’s still going on?

[기자]

From 10:30 am, the Supreme Prosecutors’ Office is holding a nationwide high prosecutors’ meeting.

It has passed the expected end time of 1:00 PM, but as the discussion lengthened, we ate lunch with a bento box and continue the meeting again from 1:30 PM.

Today’s meeting is presided over by Nam-gwan Cho, Deputy Prosecutor of the Great Prosecutor’s Office, who is acting as the prosecutor general.

The meeting was attended by six high prosecutors from Seoul, Suwon, Daejeon, Daegu, Gwangju, and Busan.

Seoul High Prosecutor’s Office Cho Sang-cheol said that he would thoroughly discuss questions from reporters about the legislation of the Severe Crime Investigation Office, and the remaining five did not answer the question or entered the government building through the underground parking lot.

It seems that they first discussed measures to quickly stabilize the confused prosecution organization with the resignation of former President Yoon Suk-yeol.

In addition, we plan to collect opinions on the bill to establish the Severe Crime Investigation Office, which was the background of former President Yun’s resignation.

In particular, I am interested in whether or not there will be a position on the heavy water office at this meeting.

As the Supreme Prosecutors’ Office has recently finished collecting opinions from the front-line prosecutors’ office on the heavy water office, there is a possibility that there is a possibility that they are against the heavy water office at the meeting.

How is the procedure for selecting a successor prosecutor general?

[기자]

The Ministry of Justice initiated the formation of the Prosecutor General Candidate Recommendation Committee to recommend the successor to the Prosecutor General.

The Department of Justice plans to finalize as much as possible within this week.

The recommendation committee consists of 5 ex officio members including Kim Hyung-du, deputy chief of the Court Administration Department and Lee Jong-yup, president of the Korean Bar Association, and 4 non-existent members.

The non-executive members consist of one person from the prosecutor’s level and three from the non-lawyers with knowledge and virtues.

When the composition is completed, the nomination committee recommends three or more candidates to the minister, and the minister respects this and proposes a candidate for the president to the president.

Currently, Seoul Central District Prosecutors’ Office Lee Seong-yoon and Deputy Prosecutor Cho Nam-gwan are the top candidates.

Former Vice Minister of Justice Kim O-soo and Supreme Prosecutors’ Office, Han Dong-soo, who are classified as pro-passport personnel, are also consistently mentioned as candidates.

The president-elect is expected to take office as early as the end of next month after a personnel hearing.
