[사회]Ministry of Food and Drug Safety “Pfizer Corona 19 Vaccine, Special Import Approval…Introduced in the middle of this month”

Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine is specially imported.

The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety said it has approved the special import of Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine requested by the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The special import of pharmaceuticals is a system that allows the import of pharmaceuticals that are not licensed in Korea from abroad to cope with the public health crisis such as an infectious disease pandemic.

The Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (KCDC) has applied for special importation from the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety for 117,000 doses of Pfizer’s Corona 19 vaccine, which is expected to be supplied through Cobax Facility, and about 60,000 people.

The decision was made on the basis of the results of an expert advisory meeting jointly held by the Korea Disease Service and Food and Drug Administration.

Special imports will be imported into Korea after mid-month through the Korea Rare Essential Medicine Center once the detailed supply schedule is confirmed by KOVAX.

However, the volume of this volume coming from Kovacs is separate from the volume of COVID-19 vaccine that the Korean government will import through Pfizer Korea.

On the 25th of last month, Pfizer Pharmaceuticals Korea applied for a formal license for this product from the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety.

Apart from the special import approval of the Pfizer vaccine to be imported from KOVAX, the review of the application for product permission is proceeding as scheduled.
