Yes, Lee Jae-yong, vice chairman of Samsung Electronics, is being investigated by the prosecution for habitually illegal administration of Propofol.

Recently, Vice Chairman Lee asked the prosecution to convene an investigation review committee.

It means that the prosecution’s investigation and future prosecution will be sought by outside personnel such as legal, academia, and civic groups.

Accordingly, it is reported that 15 randomly selected from the 150 citizens of the Prosecutors’ Office under the Seoul High Prosecutors’ Office held a deputy deliberation committee to discuss whether or not to accept Lee’s request.

This case began in earnest when the National Human Rights Commission of Korea received reports that Vice-Chairman Lee had been routinely administered Propofol in a plastic surgery clinic, and in January of last year it requested an investigation by the prosecution.

The plastic surgeon, who was accused of administering Propofol to Vice Chairman Lee, was sentenced to three years in prison at the first trial in January on charges of routinely administering Propofol to personnel from other conglomerates.

In response, Vice Chairman Lee has repeatedly emphasized that there was no illegal administration of Propofol except for legal treatment.

However, it was confirmed that this vice-chairman is being investigated by the police for another suspected drug administration of Propofol.

Yes, in addition to allegations of illegal drugs currently being investigated by the prosecution, Vice-Chairman Lee is being investigated by the police for being struck by propofol in another hospital.

Currently, the Gyeonggi Southern Police Agency is investigating the accusation of violating the Narcotics Control Act for Vice Chairman Lee.

Police are known to have discovered the allegations of taking this additional propofol during other investigations involving Vice Chairman Lee.

On the 25th of last month, the police sent investigators to the Seoul detention center to collect the hair of Lee, who is being imprisoned, and analyze the composition.

In this regard, Vice Chairman Lee is strongly refuting that no charges of illegal medication have been confirmed in the police investigation as well as the prosecution investigation.

In this situation, today’s public prosecutors are interested in whether they will accept Lee’s request to convene an investigation deliberation committee.

Even if Lee’s request is accepted and the prosecution’s investigation deliberation committee is held, if the police investigation confirms another drug drug charge, it is unlikely that the vice-chairman Lee’s side will be advised to suspend the investigation or nonprosecution as desired.
