[사회]Kwon Deok-cheol “The 4th epidemic crossroads… more than 1,000 people a day concerned when the pandemic spreads”

The government asked to be alert to the corona 19 situation in Korea, evaluating it as the time to stand at the crossroads of a large-scale recurrent pandemic.

Kwon Deok-cheol, the first deputy head of the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters, said in a speech to the public released at the Seoul Government Complex, saying, “The current situation has many similarities to just before the pandemic began in earnest.”

Deputy General Manager Kwon was particularly concerned that “if the pandemic spreads again, the pandemic could grow to more than a thousand people a day in a short time.”

1st Deputy General Manager Kwon said, “The number of patients in the past week was around 500, and the increase is becoming evident compared to the repeated fluctuations in around 400 people in the previous 10 weeks,” he said. The reproductive index of infection is also growing beyond 1.0.

In addition, Deputy General Manager Kwon added that businesses that violate the quarantine regulations will be subject to severe penalties according to the zero-tolerance principle, and if such violations occur in a number of cases, the relevant industry will be banned collectively or will implement measures to strengthen operational restrictions.

Lastly, starting today (5th), the one-week period ends, and basic quarantine rules become mandatory in earnest, and asked users and workers of multi-use facilities to strictly follow the quarantine rules.
