After the outbreak of group infection from clubs in May last year, merchants in Itaewon, Seoul, who were in crisis of death, began to speak out.

It is urging the government to reconsider its quarantine measures, saying that it will not be able to withstand any longer. It is noteworthy whether it will take action with other local commercial districts.

I will connect reporters. Reporter Kim Kyung-soo!

The streets of Itaewon are very busy, but how about seeing them on site?

This is Itaewon World Food Culture Street.

As you said, this is a depressed atmosphere that seems to be Itaewon as we know it.

It is not difficult to find a store with a closing or closing notice.

As of the third quarter of last year, the vacancy rate of small shopping malls in Itaewon was 30%, which is five times the vacancy rate in Seoul.

However, merchants in the field are also saying that the vacancy rate will increase even higher if you include stores that are about to close because they cannot afford the rent.

Eventually, the Itaewon merchants took action last weekend.

We held a press conference asking for a review of the government’s quarantine regulations.

He criticized that restricting the business to 9pm was a measure that failed to take into account the characteristics of the Itaewon commercial district, which is mainly for evening or late-night sales.

In addition, after the outbreak of group infection related to the club in May of last year, it was branded as a dangerous area and suffered great damage, and requested practical support measures.

Merchants in Itaewon will see the government’s announcement of a distancing adjustment plan this weekend, and plan to consider whether to engage in joint action with merchants from other commercial districts such as Gangnam and Hongdae in the future.

In recent years, legal responses and press conferences by self-employed individuals by industry such as academies, indoor sports facilities, and cafes are continuing.

Now, it is noteworthy whether even local merchants will engage in group action.

So far, I have delivered it in Itaewon.
