With the spread of infection from the’IM Mission’ foot group across the country, the number of additional confirmed cases per day rose to 500 in 10 days.

Accordingly, it is expected that there will be variables in the adjustment plan for the social distancing phase that the government is struggling with.

It was on the 24th that a group infection began at IM Mission, headquartered in Daejeon.

Since then, confirmed cases have occurred one after another at IM mission-related facilities such as Hongcheon, Gangwon, Gwangju, and Anseong, Gyeonggi.

On the 25th, the first confirmed cases of IM Mission were included in the national count.

132 people were added on the 25th, 54 people on the 26th, and 121 people on the 27th.

When looking at the trend of confirmed cases last week, the number of additional confirmed cases nationwide was as few as 300 and as many as 400, excluding those related to the IM Mission.

The infection reproductive index, which shows how many people per confirmed person transmits the virus, also remained below 1 in the third week from the 3rd to the 23rd.

However, it is unclear whether it will be able to stay below 1 this week in the aftermath of the group infection from IM Mission.

Eventually, the outbreak of group infection from IM Missions became a variable in the government’s plan to adjust social distancing scheduled for Friday.

The quarantine authorities inspected 40 facilities related to the IM Mission and found that 32 are in operation.

To prevent the spread of further infections, all facilities in operation are undergoing preemptive tests, and diagnostic tests are also conducted on contacts identified in the path of IM mission-related teachers and students.

In addition to the IM Mission,’dormitory type academy quarantine rules’ apply to unauthorized religious educational facilities operated in the form of full-time classes or dormitories for students who do not attend regular schools.

In addition, if a religious educational facility is operated in a way that supplementary classes are given to students attending regular schools or commuting to school, the operation will be suspended in the future in accordance with the current religious facility quarantine regulations prohibiting gatherings other than regular worship services.
