A detailed plan for vaccination will be announced this afternoon, stating that vaccination will begin sequentially starting next month as early as next month.

It will include priority vaccination targets, vaccination institutions, vaccination practices, and side effects management measures.

The government’s goal is to start vaccination against Corona 19 in the first quarter, to reach 70% of the population in the third quarter, and to achieve collective immunity in November.

To this end, the government has been working on selecting people who are eligible for priority vaccination.

The government plans to start vaccinations in the order of nursing hospitals, workers at high-risk medical institutions, the elderly over 65, chronically ill and adults under the age of 64.

The second vaccination is also scheduled to be completed by November, the fourth quarter.

MRNA vaccines, which are difficult to store like Pfizer and Modena, are shot at separate vaccination centers in 250 locations, including local gymnasiums, and AstraZeneca and Janssen products are vaccination at only private medical institutions.

Special facilities such as military and nursing homes are administered by the institution itself or by visiting a local public health center.

In order to manage adverse reactions, the Korea Disease Administration and the Food and Drug Administration establish a joint surveillance system and establish a dedicated damage investigation organization to check the causality between vaccination and adverse reactions, and national compensation will also be possible.

The government has now signed a purchase contract for 56 million people with global pharmaceutical companies, and the contract for 20 million people with NovaVax is also in the final stage.

Although the amount of vaccine secured is evaluated as sufficient, the supply shortage is deepening worldwide, and the effectiveness of the mutant virus is questioned, and so on.
