Former and incumbent judges who were involved in the judicial Nongdan incident appear in the courts where the first trial is scheduled.

This is the 7th ruling in the first and second trials combined only for the allegation of’abuse of judicial administration authority’. People are the targets.

They were charged with conspiring with the Supreme Court chief executives, including former Supreme Court Chief Yang Seung-tae, to intervene in administrative litigation by former United Progressive Party lawmakers or leak case information.

Among them, the judges were acquitted of the incumbent judges Chang-Hyun Bang and Sang-cheol Shim, but the remaining two who took off their legal uniforms were found guilty.

Former director Lee Min-geol was sentenced to 10 months in prison, two years probation, and former member Lee Gyu-jin, one year and six months in prison, and three years probation.

The judges pointed out that first, Lee Min-geol was committed to a serious crime that raised doubts about the fairness of the trial, such as trying to break down a meeting of judges critical of the judicial administration and instructing the judge in charge of the case of the National Assembly to investigate the guilt of the court.

In addition, former Commissioner Gyu-jin Lee decided that the charges of intervening in administrative litigation related to the Unified Progressive Party were acknowledged by having a judge dispatched to the Constitutional Court to collect information on major cases.

The judiciary also ruled that the two criminals were conspired with former Supreme Court Chief Yang Seung-tae, Supreme Court Justice Go Young-han and Park Byung-dae, and former Deputy Chief Justice of the Court Administration Department, Lim Jong-heon.

Jeon Lee Min-geol, who was convicted, avoided an immediate answer to the question of whether he admits the charges.

The prosecution said it was meaningful in that it was the first judgment convicted of a judicial administration authority’s unconstitutional intervening in the trial as Chief Justice of the Supreme Court Yang Seung-tae.

This sentence is the first conviction that came out during a trial against former and incumbent judges accused of judicial Nongdan.

It is expected that it will have a significant impact on the trials of former Supreme Court chiefs, including former Supreme Court Chief Yang and former Deputy Chief Justice Jong-heon Lim.
