On a weekend afternoon, a big fire broke out in a large residential-commercial building in Dasan-dong, Namyangju, Gyeonggi-do.

Hundreds of people were evacuated and 40 people drank smoke in the process, but they avoided a major catastrophe.

Black smoke rises through the 18-story residential and commercial complex in Namyangju, Gyeonggi-do.

At the scene of the fire, you can hear a stretch explosion and the screams of surprised children clearly.

The fire started at around 4:30pm.

It started with a Chinese restaurant on the first floor of the building and quickly spread to the second floor shopping mall.

The fire authorities issued the second phase of the response and sent over 200 people to the nearby fire department, but it took time to extinguish the flames because of the smoke inside the mall.

It’s been more than two and a half hours after the fire started, but black smoke is constantly leaking through the windows on the second floor of the building.

In the field, firefighters are in full swing, such as sprinkling water.

Fire authorities evacuated the lower floors first, and then mobilized fire helicopters and search teams to move more than 200 people, even higher floors, to safe places one after another.

Residents who went on a weekend outing were devastated to see the burnt house.

The hypermarket on the first basement floor of the building was full of customers who went to the weekend market, and there was also a large complex with 5,000 generations in the vicinity.

Fortunately, the casualties were not significant.

Dozens of people were taken to the hospital after drinking smoke, but it was said that they were not seriously injured, and no one was found to have died.

Namyang City Hall made six shelters, including the school grounds nearby, and provided them to the victims.

As soon as the fire is extinguished, authorities such as the police and fire authorities will check the exact cause of the fire and the scale of the damage.
