For the first time in Korea, it has been confirmed that a companion animal is infected with Corona 19.

According to the research results so far, there are no cases in which animals have transmitted Corona 19 to humans, but experts point out that the quarantine regulations should be kept the same as humans.

The first companion animal in Korea to be confirmed with Corona 19 was a kitten at the Jinju International Prayer Center in Gyeongnam.

After 29 visitors were confirmed on the 11th, more than 100 confirmed cases came out, and it is believed that the cat was also transferred to the owner.

When a mother and daughter who had three cats in a prayer hall were previously infected, the animals were tested to move them to another location, and one tested positive.

Until November of last year, 19 countries have reported cases of animal infections worldwide.

Infections were confirmed in 135 cases from 5 species including dogs, cats, and tigers, and 321 mink farms where mutant viruses were confirmed in the Netherlands and Denmark.

Among these, no cases have been confirmed that animals transmitted Corona 19 to humans.

The World Health Organization also needs further research, but the possibility of transmission from animals is low.

However, experts point out that even with pets, quarantine rules must be followed as closely as humans.

Wash your hands or wear a mask thoroughly when touching pets, and keep a distance between other people and animals when walking.

If you have COVID-19 symptoms, it is safe to avoid contact and, if possible, have someone else take care of your pet.
