Minister Choo Mi-ae, who did not appear in the position where the Ministry of Justice admitted the failure of quarantine in correctional facilities.

As the criticism increased, I apologized for the first time through SNS in a day.

Minister Chu said as the minister in charge of correctional affairs, he said he was very sorry for causing concern to the people.

However, rather than the Ministry of Justice’s procrastination, they cited structural problems such as inevitable concentration of camps and high-rise buildings as the main cause of the situation.

The first confirmed cases in the Eastern Detention Center occurred in late November of last year, but Minister Chu visited the site after another month and was criticized for being procrastinated.

Even before the group infection, masks were not properly provided, and even if they complained of suspected symptoms of Corona 19, claims that only cold medicines were prescribed without quarantine measures or additional tests, etc.

As a result of the 4th full-time inspection of the Dongbu detention center inmates and employees, 126 people were further confirmed, and the number of related confirmed cases is now close to 1,000.

In terms of the confirmation rate, it exceeds 30%.

The Ministry of Justice decided to go back to the 5th full inspection after three days.

It was decided to raise the distance of correctional facilities nationwide to three stages, and to minimize the schedule for investigations and trials summoned by the prosecution.

However, the spread of group infections in correctional facilities seems unlikely to subside as confirmed cases and deaths follow one after another among prisoners who have been transferred from the eastern detention center to other correctional facilities.
