[사회]”Can I get an animal vaccine?”…Inquiry’Rainbow’,’Spark’ at shelter

People who have pets are very worried about the news that the cat that the confirmed person had was tested positive for Corona 19 for the first time in Korea.

Animal vaccination inquiries are inundated at the veterinary hospital, and protests have increased to close the street cat shelter.

Kim Na-kyung, who raises a 5-month-old baby and two dogs together, has cut out more recently.

On the 21st, after a cat was infected with Corona 19 for the first time in Korea, there were also cases of dogs suspected of being infected, raising concerns.

Inquiries to veterinary hospitals about pet infections have increased.

While taking a walk, they come in contact with other animals and are worried that they will be infected, so they come to see a doctor, or ask if getting an animal vaccine will work.

[김재현 / 동물병원 원장 : 오시는 분들은 다 물어보시는 것 같아요. 우리 애 코로나 어떻게 되느냐, 코로나 주사는 맞았나…. 사실 강아지 코로나 백신과 코로나19는 달라서 크게 연관성은 없거든요.]

In animal shelters such as the street cat shelter, fire fell hard.

Increasingly, people who passed by were threatening or arguing to close the door.

[길고양이 봉사단 단원 : 시민의 안전을 지켜야 할 공원에서 왜 고양이 밥 주느냐, 급식소를 치워라, 이런 분이 바로 나오더라고요. (급식소가 없어지면) 고양이들이 먹고 사는 건 불가능하다고 볼 수 있어요.]

There have been cases where it has been estimated that humans have infected animals so far, but no cases have been reported in which animals have infected humans.

[손영래 / 중앙사고수습본부 사회전략반장 / 지난 24일 : 현재까지는 우리나라뿐만 아니라 전 세계적으로 인간에서 반려동물로 감염된 것으로 추정되는 감염사례들은 몇 개가 보고되고 있고 확인되고 있지만, 역으로 반려동물에서 인간으로 감염된 사례는 아직 확인된 바는 없습니다.]

Veterinarians stress that the most important thing in managing pets is to strictly follow quarantine rules to prevent humans from getting caught.

[김재현 / 동물병원 원장 : 제일 중요한 건 사람들이 안 걸리는 거죠. 어차피 동물들은 거의 집에 있고 강아지가 길에서 걸리긴 어려울 것 같거든요. 다른 분들이 옮겨오는 게 가장 큰 문제라고 생각하고….]

The relevant ministries will prepare guidelines for responding to Corona 19 related to companion animals and will announce them next week.
