[사회]AZ vaccination at nursing hospitals and facilities 65 years of age or older

[앵커]

AstraZeneca vaccination has begun in earnest for those over 65 years of age.

We are vaccinating first in nursing hospitals and nursing homes that are susceptible to infection.

Reporter Kim Kyung-soo reported on the reaction of those who received the vaccine.

A gray-haired elderly man in a wheelchair leaves one arm to the nurse.

Elderly people aged 65 and over staying in nursing homes get the AstraZeneca vaccine.

“It’s a shot. Please be patient. It’s tingling. (You must hurt a little.)”

Since there are not a few people in the elderly who have existing diseases, doctors must check their health before vaccination.

Be prepared for emergencies that may arise during the vaccination process.

After vaccination, sit still and wait for at least 15 to 30 minutes to observe the condition.

[장현숙 / ‘아름다운뜰안에’ 요양원장 : 맞기 전에는 걱정을 많이 했는데 맞고 나니까 속이 시원하네요. 안심이 돼요. 코로나 때문에 너무나 우리는 힘들었고요. 요양원이기 때문에.]

As the targets for vaccinations are expanded to 65 years of age or older, the elderly in nursing homes are also carefully looking forward to hope.

Because it is a high-risk facility, we expect to escape from the life of being isolated from outside.

[정정순 / AZ 백신 접종 : 코로나 때문에 우리 손녀딸이 하난데 걔를 맘대로 못 봐서…. 이렇게 (접종)하고 나서 괜찮다고 하면 기분이 좋은 거지.]

Nursing hospital staff, who were working at risk of infection, responded that they were fortunate to be able to vaccinate them late.

[황규순 / 부천 가은병원 직원 : 당연히 맞아야 되는데 도외시되는 느낌이 있었죠. 다행히 맞게 되어서 고맙다고 생각할 수밖에 없죠.]

Previously, only 76.9% of residents and workers in nursing homes and facilities agreed to get AstraZeneca vaccination among those over 65 years old.

It’s lower than the 93.7% consent rate for those under the age of 65, and the quarantine authorities trusted the government and experts and asked them to get the vaccine at the turn.
