The government decided to apply the current social distancing and the ban on private gatherings with more than 5 people, as well as strengthening and applying basic quarantine rules.

As of 0 o’clock today, there are 505 new cases in total.

The number of people increased by 11 from the previous day and reached the 500 mark.

It has been 36 days since 561 on the 19th of last month that the number of new coronavirus patients in Korea reached the 500 level.

Despite high-intensity quarantine measures, the number of confirmed cases is on the rise.

Accordingly, the government has extended the current social distancing, the ban on private gatherings of more than 5 people nationwide, and the 10 p.m. business hours limit for multi-use facilities such as restaurants and cafes in the metropolitan area until the 11th of next month.

The basic quarantine rules were also strengthened, increasing from 4 to 7 and expanding the application targets from 24 to 33.

As for the infection route of new patients, 490 domestic outbreaks and 15 foreign inflows.

When looking at domestic outbreaks by region, there are also many metropolitan areas.

There are 306 new patients in the metropolitan area, including 126 in Seoul, 141 in Gyeonggi, and 39 in Incheon.

Of these, 82 were tested positive at the temporary screening test in the metropolitan area.

Not a few patients came from outside the metropolitan area, including 38 in Chungbuk, 35 in Gangwon, 33 in Busan, 22 in Daegu, and 19 in Gyeongnam.

The death toll increased by 5, and the number of severely ill patients decreased by 8 to 103.

The vaccination status was also released.

As of today’s 0 o’clock, the number of new primary vaccinations was 22,845, exceeding 790,000 cumulatively.

After vaccination, 149 reports of adverse reactions were added.

Of these, 4 cases were suspected of anaphylaxis, 1 case was seriously suspected, and 4 cases were added to death.

The government said that the number of confirmed cases has not seldom decreased, although special efforts have been made, such as a period of special measures for the metropolitan area and a special period for compliance with quarantine regulations in non-capital areas.

He pointed out that in April, there are large religious events such as the re-election, Easter, and Ramadan, which are causing anxiety in quarantine.

He then emphasized that it is more urgent for the people to actively participate in quarantine than ever before, and he urged them to follow basic quarantine rules when doing outdoor or religious activities.

Joong-Kwan Kim also explained that the first vaccinations for nursing hospitals and facilities under 65 years of age are almost finished, and vaccinations over 65 years of age are also progressing smoothly.

The government and local governments said they plan to provide transportation for the elderly and operate a vaccination call center to ensure that vaccination proceeds smoothly. They asked for abandoning anxiety about the vaccine and actively participating in the vaccination.
