[사회]500 people in the fifth day… fear of the 4th epidemic grows

[앵커]

There were 543 cases of corona19 in Korea yesterday, recording 500 cases for the fifth day.

As the number of confirmed cases is increasing everywhere in daily life, the fear of the 4th epidemic is also growing.

Let’s find out by connecting reporters for more details. Reporter Kim Dae-gyeom!

First of all, please tell me what happened yesterday.

[기자]

Yes yesterday, there were 543 corona19 confirmed patients in Korea.

It’s already been five days since the number of new confirmed cases has risen to 500.

Local outbreaks are 514 people, and overseas inflows are 29 people.

There were more than 300 people in the metropolitan area alone, including 146 in Seoul and Gyeonggi and 19 in Incheon.

Even in the non-metropolitan area, about 40% of the total confirmed cases, including 60 in Busan, 28 in Daejeon, and 23 in Jeonbuk, are becoming more pronounced.

The death toll increased by 4 more, the cumulative death toll increased to 1,744, and the number of severely ill patients decreased by 2 to 99.

Looking at the recent outbreak, infections are increasing in all everyday spaces such as restaurants, multi-use facilities, and day care centers.

The government yesterday expressed concern through a major script meeting, saying, “Corona 19 seems to be spreading its base in all everyday spaces and foreshadowing the fourth epidemic.”

In particular, concerns about the spread of religious facilities are growing, especially today, on Easter, and the remaining 4·7 re-election is another risk factor.

We also look at the domestic vaccination situation.

[기자]

Yes yesterday, 8,229 people received the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine one day, and 537 people received the second dose.

Up to now, the number of people who received the first vaccination has increased to 962,000, and about 27,000 people have completed the second vaccination.

Yesterday, 50 cases were reported as reactions more than one day, of which one suspected anaphylaxis.

The government now expects that if the 4th outbreak occurs, vaccination will be disrupted due to a lack of medical staff.

The government plans to advance some of the people who are eligible for vaccination in the third quarter to the second quarter and those who are eligible for the second quarter to April-May.

To this end, we plan to expand the interval between the 1st and 2nd vaccinations of AstraZeneca vaccine from 10 weeks to 12 weeks and use the reserves for the 2nd vaccination in advance.

So far, the Ministry of Social Affairs has delivered it.
