Group infections related to the eastern detention center in Seoul have surged to nearly one hundred people within a month.

Four out of ten prisoners were confirmed.

The Ministry of Justice and the quarantine authorities are scheduled to conduct a sixth total inspection tomorrow.

Cumulative confirmed cases related to the Eastern detention center, so far 1,090.

Including this, the cumulative number of confirmed cases related to correctional facilities nationwide is 1,115.

One employee was also confirmed in Jeju prison, but it was investigated that it was not related to the outbreak of the eastern detention center.

Seven people were waiting for the test results in the 5th total inspection at the Dongbu Detention Center on the 2nd.

Of these, six more were confirmed, and one was negative.

As a result, more than 1,000 confirmed prisoners in Dongbu detention center, and more than 40 detention center employees and their families were infected.

Compared to the 2,400 total inmates at the time of the first total examination, 40% of the inmates were infected.

On November 27, last year, an employee became infected, and it increased like this for a little over a month.

Yesterday (3rd), the Seoul Metropolitan Government transferred more than 200 non-confirmed people to other correctional facilities.

It is said that the relocation work is in progress so that people inside can also use one room per person.

The eastern detention center in Seoul is quite large as a single group in which the infection occurred.

It is the third and second after 5,000 people in Shincheonji in Daegu, and it is also close to 1,176 people at Sarangjeil Church in Seoul.

The total inspection of the Eastern Detention Center has been conducted five times so far.

Each time the test was performed, three-digit confirmed cases were poured out, and additional confirmations continued.

The Ministry of Justice was belatedly trying to determine the cause.

Justice Minister Choo Mi-ae posted a post on personal social media yesterday and said that the cause is presumed to be the inability to initially filter out asymptomatic infections.

It also revealed that all prisoners who were negatively determined by the 5th test had been transferred to other correctional facilities.

He explained that the masks are given to individuals one by one per day, in a bundle of 10, and that a dedicated medical staff is being used to treat them.
