The number of cumulative confirmed cases related to the plant here is 123 so far.

Eight more people have been confirmed since yesterday.

There were 4 factory workers here and 3 additional family members of the confirmed patient tested positive.

One out of 952 employees at nearby factories that completed the inspection was also confirmed.

The quarantine authorities continue to conduct inspections on more than 200 employees at nearby factories that have not yet been tested.

As other factory workers have also been infected, there are concerns about further spread.

But the confirmed and negative workers were gathered together in the dormitory?

As you can see behind me, ambulances and vans come and go from time to time.

Health center staff in protective clothing continue to evacuate the confirmed cases.

Confirmed workers were kept in quarantine in the dormitory of the building behind me.

76 workers who had been confirmed confirmed by the morning were quarantined here.

The problem is that foreign workers who were tested negative were not able to find a place to self-isolate outside, so they were quarantined together in the dormitory here where the confirmed person is.

There are also public spaces, including toilets in the dormitory, and there are concerns about further infection among workers who were tested negative.

In fact, the quarantine authorities also pointed out living in this dormitory as one of the causes of this collective infection at the Namyangju factory.

In particular, it was analyzed that the mask was worn and the quarantine regulations were not well observed in a closed and close space.

Is there a possibility of spreading the infection outside the industrial complex?

The first confirmed case was confirmed on the 13th, but the notification was not made until the 15th, two days later.

The health authorities explained that there was a delay in the process of transferring the confirmation information from the clinic where the test was conducted to Yongsan-gu, where the clinic is located, and from Yongsan-gu to Namyangju, where the confirmed patient resided.

In addition, it was found that the confirmed case went outside for two days, even though self-isolation is the principle before receiving notification of confirmation.

On the day of confirmation, it is known that a house in Yongsan-gu was stopped, and the next day, a mart in the same area was stopped, and after that, the dormitory in Namyangju was transferred by public transportation.

The competent local government has mostly completed the identification of the contact person, and to date, it is believed that there are no additional confirmed cases except for the family of the first confirmed person.

In addition, it is known that during the Lunar New Year holidays, factory workers left the dormitory and went to downtown Namyangju and Itaewon, Seoul.

The quarantine authorities are currently employing about 10 epidemiological investigators to understand the movement of other confirmed cases.
