[사회][고속도로 교통상황] Congestion in some sections…restrictions on’indoor eating’ at rest areas

[앵커]

From today, the four-day Lunar New Year holidays have begun.

Although the number of visitors to their hometown is expected to decrease due to the corona 19 effect, congestion is occurring on some highway sections.

On the other hand, you cannot eat food in the rest area.

We will connect reporters out of the field and find out more details. Reporter Park Hee-jae!

The return highway is still congested?

[기자]

About two hours ago, I delivered the news from Giheung Rest Area in Yongin.

Now, I moved to Anseong Rest Area, which is 27 kilometers further down the direction of Busan.

Before departure, the directions application predicted the travel time to be 28 minutes, but it actually took about 50 minutes.

Even in the afternoon, part of the highway is still congested.

As of 1:30 noon, the downlink congestion is 176 kilometers.

The congestion has been resolved to some extent than 2 hours ago.

The Oksan Junction from the Gyeongbu Expressway towards Busan shows a frustrating flow of about 15 kilometers per hour.

The Seopyeongtaek Junction on the Seohaean Expressway towards Mokpo is about 20 to 25 kilometers per hour.

The Yeongdong Expressway toward Gangneung is about 15-20 kilometers per hour at Wonju Junction.

The congestion on the way home is expected to be resolved around 5 PM, and the reverse return vehicle is expected to be resolved around 4 PM.

As a result, the estimated time to travel over long distances is decreasing.

As of now, if you depart from Seoul, it will take 4 hours and 40 minutes to Busan, 3 hours and 20 minutes to Gwangju, 1 hour and 50 minutes to Daejeon, and 2 hours and 50 minutes to Gangneung.

The total number of returnees is expected to decrease due to the aftermath of Corona 19, but some highway congestion during the holiday season is expected to be inevitable while avoiding public transportation and preferring a car.

Indoor eating is prohibited at rest areas, right?

[기자]

This Anseong Rest Area is also restricted from eating indoors.

Looking inside, all restaurants are closed and access is restricted by controlling entrances.

This is a measure in accordance with the’special quarantine measures’ implemented by the quarantine authorities during the Lunar New Year holidays, but it is possible to take food in a package instead.

Currently, customers mainly use external stores that sell convenience foods such as Havana potatoes and Jupo.

The Korea Expressway Corporation has added personnel in various areas of the rest area, and employees holding pickets with the phrase ‘2m distance’ provide guidance from time to time.

In addition, the use of rest area congestion information systems and congestion information road signs are used throughout the road to induce the use of rest facilities.

Unlike other holidays, highway tolls are also charged from today to the 13th.
