[사설] Israel No. 1 Vaccination Rate Study in advance

As more than 40 countries around the world have started vaccinating against Corona 19, the speed of vaccination varies greatly from country to country. As of December 31, last year, 21.2 million people in the United States received the vaccine, accounting for only 0.64% of the total population. Due to difficulties in the low-temperature distribution of the vaccine, only 10% of the goal of’inoculating 20 million people within the year’ was reached. The debate over vaccination priorities is also a stumbling block. In France, the rejection of the vaccine was exceptionally severe, indicating that only 119 people had been vaccinated for three days after vaccination began. In Germany, even after the domestic pharmaceutical company Bioentech developed a vaccine with Pfizer, 78,000 people were inoculated, showing a lower inoculation rate than in the United States and the United Kingdom.

The fastest vaccination rate is in Israel. According to local media, the cumulative number of vaccinations was 786,000, or 8.5% of the total population. The Israeli government also announced an ambitious plan to complete vaccinations for all citizens by the end of March. The British Telegraph cited securing sufficient quantities, expanding inoculation sites, and promoting safety as the reason for the fast vaccination rate in Israel. In particular, it was analyzed that the vaccine was being vaccinated as if it were a war, including hundreds of military medical staff. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was vaccinated publicly and encouraged vaccination. Strategies such as encouraging vaccination by text message and issuing a’green passport’ to those who completed the vaccination twice also increased the vaccination rate.

The speed of vaccination is very important in that it is directly connected to the escape of Corona 19 and the normalization of the economy. The Korean government has been criticized for procrastinating in securing vaccines, but the number of vaccines secured has increased to 56 million through a recent contract to purchase 20 million vaccines with Modena. AstraZeneca is expected to be introduced in the first quarter, Modena and Janssen in the second quarter, and Pfizer in the third quarter. In order to avoid confusion and prompt vaccination after the vaccination arrives, the vaccination personnel, facilities, and low-temperature distribution systems must be thoroughly prepared and vaccination priorities must be determined. It is worth investigating the case of Israel, whose vaccination rate is unrivaled.
