Samsung Electronics’ new smartphone Galaxy S21 made good results in Korea on the first day of its opening.

Samsung Electronics’ Galaxy S21, which opened on the 22nd after 7 days of advance reservation from the 15th to the 21st, is continuing with good performance.

This is interpreted as the fact that each telecommunications company set out twice as much as the public announcement subsidy compared to the previous Galaxy S20 pre-booking and started attracting customers.

According to the telecommunications industry, the three mobile telecommunications companies set a maximum of 500,000 won for the announcement of the Galaxy S21.

LG Uplus announced a subsidy of 268,000 won to 500,000 won for each rate plan on the start date of pre-reservation, and KT and SK Telecom, which announced a lower public subsidy, followed by raising the public subsidy.

KT has set a public announcement subsidy of 260,000 won to 500,000 won for each plan, and SK Telecom 270,000 to 500,000 won. Existing notices and public announcement subsidies ranged from 100,000 to 240,000 won for KT and 87,000 to 170,000 won for SK Telecom.

Given the circumstances, the first day of the Galaxy S21, which started opening this day, appeared to be about 120,000 units, 20% more than the previous Galaxy S20.

According to the mobile communication industry, the number of the Galaxy S21 series on the previous day is estimated to be 90,000 to 100,000 units. In addition, considering that the amount of self-sufficiency products for the Galaxy S21 series has increased significantly from the previous 10% range to around 30% of the total, the total number of units of self-sufficiency is expected to reach 120,000 units.

This trend is 15-20% higher than the previous Galaxy S20.

In the industry, the Galaxy S20, which was released at the end of February last year, was hit by a direct hit in the early days of the new coronavirus infection, and sales were significantly sluggish.

At that time, the Galaxy S20 had only 70,000 units on the first day.

Samsung Electronics is putting its efforts into marketing such as setting the price of the Galaxy S21 base model to 990,000 won for the first time in a 5G flagship model.

The three mobile carriers also set out to attract customers by setting the public subsidy for Galaxy S21 at a maximum of 500,000 won, which is twice the level of the previous work.

An industry insider said, “Samsung Electronics, which is trying to make up for the Galaxy S20’s sluggishness, and mobile carriers’ aggressive marketing strategies to expand the 5G market in earnest are seeing some effect.”

In particular, the popularity of the Galaxy S21 is said to be led by the 2030 generation. SK Telecom announced on the 22nd that as a result of pre-reservation at the official online shop T Direct Shop, those in their 20s and 30s accounted for about 50% of all reservation subscribers.

Meanwhile, the three telecom companies’ Galaxy S21 pre-opening events that started on this day were mostly held non-face-to-face due to the influence of Corona 19.

SK Telecom held Korea’s first unmanned opening event for Galaxy S21 at’T Factory 24′, an unmanned purchase space of Hongdae ICT multiplex’T Factory’, and LG Uplus held an event for in-house employees and combined Galaxy S21 and U+ Together. In response to a story that required signing up for a product, four were selected as pre-opening customers.

On the afternoon of the 21st, KT broadcasted’Online Camping Food with BJ Ziyang’ on YouTube as the concept of the opening eve.
