[방송][단독] Choi Je-woo “12-year-old corpse cleaning → billions of scams…but I don’t blame fate” (Interview)

Choi Je-woo (Choi Chang-min), who gained great popularity as an idol in the 90s, revealed his turbulent life path. Still, he conveyed hope to those in need, saying, “Life doesn’t go as intended, so it’s fun.”

In the episode of SBS Plus’ Kang Ho-dong’s Babsim, broadcasted on the 18th, Choi Je-woo told the story of having a debt and changing daily jobs even after his debut as a celebrity, from the story of making money without hesitation from assisting the funeral director at the age of 12 to a part-time job collecting excrement.

Jewoo Choi started the entertainment industry as a backdancer of Turbo and played an active part as a’all-round entertainer’ by traveling between models, actors, singers and VJ. In the SBS youth sitcom’How About Me’, he became a stardom with his handsome appearance. The first album’Hero’, which was released in 1998 due to project performance, achieved more than expected performances and was greatly loved as’the idol of teenagers’, including performing as a singer to the third album.

However, in the midst of its heyday, he was forced to stop his activities as he owed billions of dollars to his agency fraud. During the two years of the activity, he earned about 500 million won, but instead of settlement, he was in debt of 200 million won due to the agency’s fraud. To make matters worse, the merged company even requested a night stage event in the name of a penalty for double contracts.

Choi Je-woo said that he couldn’t climb the night stage he didn’t want, and he was able to repay a debt of 100 million won by accumulating money like badly through three years of daily labor. He also injured his finger at the construction site at the time and confessed that he was still unable to straighten it, causing regret.

I also recalled his difficult childhood. Choi Je-woo said, “Since I was in elementary school, I earned all sorts of part-time jobs and earned living expenses. When I was 12 years old, I worked as an assistant to the funeral director. I was very dry, saying,’It could be a mental shock,’ but I was still cleaning the body.” About a week or so, I recovered the body of a person who had been in a car accident, but he was nauseous and vomited, and he couldn’t go to school for a few days. Even afterwards, I made money by doing several part-time jobs such as attaching leaflets and treating manure.

After the broadcast, Choi Je-woo recalled the time with a smile saying, “I fell into the toilet and threw away my sneakers several times” in an interview with YTN star. He said, “I didn’t think of anything like that, and I thought I could just get an Albabi. I was shocked when I saw the body of a person who entered the accident. It was important to be able to help out at that age,” he said.

He said, “At the time, my family didn’t know I was doing such a thing. I didn’t say it,” and made a peek at Choi Je-woo, who was deep and mature even when he was 12 years old.

When Choi Je-woo was first scammed by her agency after her debut in the entertainment industry, she thought that she was grateful for just coming so far. He recalled, “I think I thought it was great just because I had been doing it so far, and just being loved like this. I’m glad that it’s all. It was just going back to my original place,” he recalled.

However, as he was scammed again and frustrated with his resurgence, it became increasingly difficult for Choi Je-woo, who was positive, to reconcile. At that time, the place he leaned on was Myeongrikhak. He said, “I tried to do the activities again little by little after that, but I had problems again and again, so I thought,’Why is this happening?’. I was frustrated or thirsty because of the different results from my efforts. If so, I thought it was worth the challenge.”

Choi Je-woo, who once thought about extremes, did not give up hope even at that moment. “I think life is very fun. It’s because there’s nothing I want to do.” “I think it’s something you have to go through as part of your life, whether it’s good or bad,” he said calmly.

As Choi Je-woo, who has suffered a lot on his own, “I want to tell those who are having a hard time not to think about extremes because a good day will come. I also had such a day, but after that, I want to’Why did it?’. I hope you can endure it well,” he added, adding a sincere support.

Finally, Je-woo Choi expressed his desire to use the enlightenment and learning he had gained to the advantage. Also, as an actor, I hoped that I could meet with better activities.

He said, “Because Myeong-ri is still a study in the dark, it seems that it is a lot of comparison with shamanism. I want to study more and gain experience so that I can lead a little more toward the sunny side so that it can be recognized as a good study.” In addition, he added, “As my main job is as an actor, I would like to meet many people through acting activities if a good opportunity comes.”
