Today, 102 years ago, there were numerous women at the scene crying out for the independence of their motherland, but the only woman we think of is Yu Gwan-soon.

Among the 6,400 people who were honored in the independence movement, 490 women were only 3%.

The alienated women’s independence activists were brought back to life through paintings.

Reporter Seung-eun Lee introduces.

Jung Jeong-hwa, the hidden support of the Provisional Government, is waiting for a train in Chinese clothes.

This is the work of the masters of Korean feminist art, painter Yun Seok-nam, who have big eyes and big hands.

Together with the writer Kim Lee-kyung, we explored more than 20 women’s independence activists, and first illuminated them with writing and painting.

[윤석남 / 화가 (82세) : 나라를 찾는 것이 자존심을 살리는 거고 여성의 자존심을 살리는 건데, 거기에 남성, 여성을 따질 필요가 뭐가 있겠어요. 기회만 되면 목숨을 바쳐서라도 이 나라를 독립을 시키겠다는 의식이 딱 들어가 있는 게 놀라운 거죠.]

My goal is to start painting at 40, learn Korean painting at 70, and draw portraits of female independence activists who started over eight years, and 100 people.
