“Jeju Island was originally harsh, but once it bursts… When the hell…”

A breakwater at Pier 2 of Jeju Port on the morning of the 31st, the third day after the overturning accident occurred on the third day after the trawler’s 32 people Minho (39 tons, Hallim Shipment).

As soon as the news that one body, believed to be a missing crew member, was found at around 11 am, the families of the missing person found the breakwater where the hull was stranded for the first time after the accident.

Strong waves and strong winds did not even allow access to the breakwater until the day before, but on this day, we could see the hull that was barely caught in the breakwater.

Nevertheless, there was still a storm warning in the offshore of Jeju, and the 4m high wave was rising, so the seawater constantly swallowed up the hull.

The family, who arrived on the long breakwater, looked at the hull with a sharp cross-section as if torn, and were enthusiastic.

One family was constantly calling out the family’s name and was agonized, and the elderly, who were supported by another family because of their inability to control their bodies, also blushed.

On the morning of the 31st, Minister of Oceans and Fisheries Moon Seong-hyuk meets and interviews with the family of 32 people who were missing Minho at the Jeju Port where the body suspected to be missing was found.

The family was burning because the body was not identified.

One family appealed to Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Moon Sung-hyuk who visited the site that day, “I only heard the story that the body was found, but I haven’t heard that it has been recovered.”

In response, Minister Moon explained, “We will take necessary measures for the coastal administration,” and “I will instruct the head of the site to take the measures my family wants as soon as possible.”

There were also requests from bereaved families to search for missing persons as quickly as the weather permits.

Minister Moon promised, “As there is a forecast from the Meteorological Administration that the weather will improve from the afternoon, we will do our best to search for and rescue the missing persons by mobilizing all available resources.”

Meanwhile, the body found on the sea in front of the terminal gate at Pier 3 in Jeju Port is currently undergoing identification procedures.

The place where the body was found is not far from the sea, about 2.6 km northwest of Jeju Port, where Myeong Min-ho was overthrown on the night of the 29th.

It is estimated that 32 Minho, with a total of 7 crew members on board, departed from Seongsan Port in Seogwipo at about 4 pm on the 29th and headed to Hallim Port in Jeju City, and an overturn accident occurred within 3 hours.

The first accident report was filed at around 7:27 p.m. at 2.6 km northwest of Jeju Port, but the hull was pushed by the waves and found at around 9:8 p.m. at 1.6 km northwest of Jeju Port.

During the rescue operation in the early morning of the 30th, the hull was swept away by strong winds and big waves, and hit the breakwater of Jeju Port. Part of the hull was damaged and lost in this collision.
