“An elevator that can only be used by me… One side of the wall is glass”
The Penthouse Cheongdam (PH129) in Gangnam-gu, Seoul was selected as the most expensive apartment in the country. It is the first apartment to exceed the official price of 10 billion won. According to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, the official price of The Penthouse Cheongdam apartment in Cheongdam-dong was 16.3 billion won (407m2 for exclusive use), which was selected as the most expensive apartment.
This apartment was completed last year, with 3 buildings, 6 stories below the ground and 20 stories above the ground, with a dedicated area of 270-396m2, and a total of 29 households. By type, it was composed of 27 general-type households and two penthouse-type households.
At the time of pre-sale in 2017, this complex had less than 30 households, and was not regulated for pre-sale prices, and there were no restrictions on resale. Because of this, some of these apartments that moved in last year are already for sale. According to nearby officials, there are a total of 8 items for sale, which is not much different from the pre-sale price. A certified official said, “Because it is very expensive, it is more common to trade with acquaintances than through a public brokerage.” The total sale price of the tallest penthouse at the time of sale in 2017 was set at 20 billion won, and other households at 8 to 12 billion won.

The biggest advantage of this apartment is that three households reside on one floor and the living room wall is’full glass’. You can see the Han River right in front of you, and you can use the elevator individually for each household, ensuring privacy.
In PH129, Jang Dong-gun and Ko So-young received a lot of attention. Star instructor Hyun Woo-jin also lives here. C official said, “It’s a place where privacy is guaranteed, and celebrities prefer to live in Gangnam-gu,” he said. “The residents of this neighborhood don’t even know who lives in that apartment,” said a nearby H official.
Meanwhile, this apartment is subject to a holding tax of about 400 million won according to the high public price. In the case of super high-priced apartments, complexes with over 100 million won in ownership tax have also appeared. According to Woo Byung-tak, manager of Shinhan Bank’s real estate advisory center, the Penthouse Cheongdam’s 407.71㎡ of ownership tax is estimated to be 4953 million won for the first time this year.
