Director Seung Hyun-joon “AI is a transformative technology…if AI is added, it will transform into a creative one”

Samsung Electronics presented various new technologies and products incorporating artificial intelligence (AI) technology at’CES 2021′, the world’s largest home appliance exhibition.

Samsung Electronics, which participated in’CES 2021′ with the theme of’Better Normal for All’, is a personal life based on’Home’, which is required various roles in the new normal era. It introduced innovative products and services based on artificial intelligence (AI) and Internet of Things (IoT) that consider style and taste. It is to create an ecosystem that binds the house into one small world.

The new robot vacuum cleaner’JetBot AI’ is representative. ‘Jetbot AI’ is the world’s first robot cleaner equipped with Intel’s AI solution. To improve autonomous driving performance, deep learning-based object recognition technology was applied, and LiDAR and 3D sensors were installed.

‘Jetbot AI’ learns more than 1 million images in advance based on tip learning and recognizes major obstacles, home appliances, and furniture. In addition, the 3D sensor recognizes the shape of low-height objects and complex structures that cannot be detected by conventional 2D sensors, and recognizes the distance and shape of obstacles within 1m, enabling them to avoid in advance.

In addition, it recognizes and avoids towels and socks, cups, electric wires, and companion animal excrement, etc., which caused clogging of the suction port because the robot cleaner could not avoid itself. As a result, the hassle of cleaning the floor before using the robot cleaner has been greatly reduced.

‘Jetbot AI’ has been applied to the wireless vacuum cleaner’Samsung Jet’ and applied the’Clean Station’, an automatic dust discharge system that is gaining popularity, not only cleaning but also the process of emptying dust. Samsung Electronics plans to introduce this product to the domestic market in the first half of the year.

In addition, Samsung Electronics unveiled’Smart Things Cooking’, an AI-based customized service, and’Samsung Health’ for smart TVs. ‘SmartThings Cooking’ is a customized service that uses the SmartThings app to manage the entire process from purchasing ingredients to cooking according to personal preferences.

It recommends meal plans and recipes that suit the user’s taste and diet, and helps manage the groceries in storage. In addition, it automatically transmits the cooking mode, time, and temperature suitable for the recipe selected by the user to the Samsung Smart Oven. The service is expected to be introduced in Korea and the United States first in the first quarter of this year.

‘Samsung Health’ for smart TV is a service that provides various types of high-definition home training contents such as stretching, strength training, yoga, and meditation. Through the’Smart Trainer’ function, users can view their exercise with a USB camera connected to the TV and check their posture accuracy, number of movements, and calorie consumption.

In addition, Samsung Electronics has applied AI technology to various home appliances such as TVs, washing machines and dryers. In particular, the’Grande AI’ washer/dryer performs optimal washing and drying by continuously learning the washing habits of consumers based on AI.

AI technology was also applied to the automatic sterilization and automatic drainage function of the’Bispork Water Purifier’, which was first unveiled through CES. It automatically identifies water usage data and sends a replacement notification to consumers via mobile when the filter usage reaches 95%. Above all, the user’s convenience has been greatly improved by allowing the amount of water to be precisely controlled in units of 10ml. Samsung Electronics plans to launch this product in the domestic market in the first quarter of this year.
