According to related industries on the 26th, the Winia Dimchae research and development (R&D) organization recently started to develop a medical refrigerator that can store vaccines. As the importance of the distribution process was emphasized around the Corona 19 vaccine, which began to be distributed in earnest all over the world, he started developing related products.

Pfizer vaccines in the United States require very demanding distribution processes, such as storage at a cryogenic temperature of -70 degrees Celsius. This is why the demand for medical refrigerators that can maintain such conditions is high both in Korea and abroad. However, the industry’s evaluation is that there are not many products that can guarantee stability as the current medical refrigerator market is mainly formed by SMEs. Winia Dimchae, who also developed the original kimchi refrigerator, possessed the state-of-the-art cooling control technology and fine temperature refrigeration technology as well as related know-how in the refrigerator field. It is analyzed that the possibility of success is sufficient in the medical refrigerator market.

An official of Winia Dimchae explained, “It is correct that medical refrigerators are being developed in terms of advanced research and development.”

The industry sees Winia Dimchae’s start to develop medical refrigerators as a move to discover future growth engines. It is analyzed that it is a strategy to diversify its business portfolio by actively discovering new businesses while growth has slowed due to stagnant demand and intensifying competition among companies in existing core businesses such as kimchi refrigerators.

In fact, Winia Dimchae has a research and development center under the Chief Technology Officer (CTO), and is a new business with 12 teams including △advanced product development △refrigerator development △air appliance development △control development △system development manager, etc. Are actively discovering. Earlier in 2019, it attracted attention by developing a plant growing machine that is expected to expand in the future. However, it is known that Winia Dimchae recently decided not to proceed with the plant cultivation business in consideration of the narrow market.
