It was confirmed on the 7th that after taking office, Minister of Unification Lee In-young consistently approved the export of 2 billion won worth of Corona 19 medical supplies despite North Korea’s rejection. Power of the People According to the data on the’Status of Approval for Taking Medical Goods Out of North Korea’ submitted by the Ministry of Unification on the same day by the Ministry of Unification, the Ministry of Unification won 2 billion won through private organizations seven times from July 27 to December 31, last year when Minister Lee took office. However, it was confirmed that the actual export was misfired as North Korea, which claimed no corona 19 confirmed cases and did not report a single confirmed case to the World Health Organization (WHO), refused to assist. The opposition party responded, “The Ministry of Unification is unconditionally favorable to North Korea, but this is too much” (people’s power official).

Regarding the Corona 19 vaccine support to North Korea, the Ministry of Unification responded that “the issue of vaccine support against North Korea should take into account various factors such as domestic and foreign corona trends, and vaccine supply and demand trends,” and “we are not examining it in detail at this stage.”

In politics, controversy has arisen over the support of Corona 19 to North Korea.
Although it is humanitarian, in the absence of an official apology from the North even after the bombing of the South-North Joint Liaison Office last year (June 14) and the murder of North Korean military officials in the West Sea (September 22), “Promoting support as if courting North Korea, The criticism that “it is inappropriate” comes from the power of the people. In fact, the Ministry of Unification temporarily suspended the approval of the release of masks to North Korea, as if conscious of public opinion after the murder of a public official in September last year.

Recently, North Korea’s Labor Party First Vice President Kim Yeo-jeong poured out sharp remarks to Foreign Minister Kang Kyung-wha regarding support for Corona 19. Minister Kang said at the International Security Forum in December last year, “North Korea is not responding to our proposal to support Corona 19. “There is no confirmed case in North Korea, but it is a strange situation.” Kim criticized Minister Kang, saying, “It seems that he is suffering from a deeper cold to blow the frozen North-South relations.

Even in this situation, Minister Lee In-young continued to show his willingness to support North Korea, such as the Corona 19 vaccine, saying, “When it is insufficient, sharing together is really sharing.” In particular, he said in his New Year’s address on the 4th, “If you watch’Thor’ (Hollywood movie), when the nine worlds are aligned, the energy of the universe is concentrated strongly and strongly. This is called convergence.” The time of the possibility of bringing about a spring of peace is approaching once again through effort.”

Regarding this, Rep. Jeong Jin-seok said, “We are in an urgent situation, such as the recent corona disaster in the eastern detention center in Seoul and the delay in vaccination in Korea. Rather than asking for an apology for the continued brutality of North Korea, the Ministry of Unification has rejected medical care. There is a problem with sticking to product support.”
