Yong-geun Kim Full-time Vice Chairman of the Korean Federation of Business Owners

Kim Yong-geun, a full-time vice chairman of the Korean Federation of Business Owners, resigns, taking responsibility for the successive passage of anti-business legislation. Vice-Chairman Kim Sang-geun is said to have felt a sense of self-destruction by the government and ruling party’s successive corporate regulation legislation. Vice-Chairman Kim Sang-geun’s successors are the first-class personnel from the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, and the possibility of internal selection is also raised.

According to the business community on the 14th, Vice Chairman Kim Sang-geun was responsible for passing the anti-business bill and expressed his gratitude to Kyung-Sik Sohn, Chairman of the Gyeonggi Province earlier this month. Vice Chairman Kim, who took office in July 2018, lasted until February of next year. Vice-Chairman Kim, whose tenure remains for one year, is known to have solidified his appreciation by passing the amendment to the Commercial and Fair Trade Act last year and the amendment to the Trade Union Act last month, as well as the Serious Disaster Act last month.

Economic organizations, including the Gyeonggi Chongqing, visited the National Assembly whenever such a regulatory bill came out and steadily withdrew or supplemented it, but it was evaluated that it was not reflected at all. The government and the ruling party visited the Gyeonggi Chongqing, saying, “I will listen to the voices of the business community,” but the position of the business community was not reflected in the legislative process, and controversy over the business and economic group’passing’ also arose. Some analyzes that the internal conflict of the Gyeonggi-gun also affected the resignation of Vice Chairman Kim Sang-geun. Vice Chairman Kim Sang-geun, born in 1956 (Goheung, Jeollanam-do), served as the head of the industrial policy headquarters of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, the chairman of the Korea Industrial Technology Foundation, and the president of the Automobile Industry Association with 23 administrative examinations.

Vice-Chairman Kim Sang-geun already announced his gratitude to surrounding and internal employees earlier this month, and it was reported that his resignation was known to some extent in the business world. As the successor of Vice Chairman Kim Sang-geun, first-class personnel from the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy are mentioned. There are also observations that a full-time vice-chairman, including Ryu Ki-jeong, Executive Vice President, will be selected from within. The General Assembly plans to hold a presidency meeting on the 17th and a general meeting on the 24th to discuss succession.
