It was confirmed that the National Tax Service recently conducted intensive investigations on SM Entertainment, along with general producer Lee Soo-man, representative Lee Seong-soo and actor Bae Yong-jun.

The National Tax Service imposed a fine of over 1 billion won on SM Entertainment in addition to an additional 20.2 billion won.

On the 21st, an official from an appraisal agency said in a phone call with E Today, “We know that an intensive investigation was conducted on the issue of stock transfer in a special tax audit on them.

In particular, it is evaluated that it is very unusual for the National Tax Service to investigate Bae Yong-joon regarding the stock transfer.

As a result of this Today’s coverage, the National Tax Service notified SM Entertainment on the 5th of this month of a fine of more than 1 billion won for the’notification disposition’ after collecting 20.2 billion won including corporate tax.

The’notification disposition’ is to notify the offender to pay fines, etc., if the tax authority finds a conviction of the offense after completing the investigation of the tax offense case. A fine of over 1 billion won was imposed as SM Entertainment received false tax invoices.

On the 5th, SM Entertainment announced that it had been levied an additional surcharge of 2,216.66 million won as a result of a tax audit from the Seoul Regional Tax Office.

After receiving the tax invoice, SM Entertainment plans to pay the additional surcharge by the end of March, the deadline for payment, and has announced that it will proceed with the complaint procedure in the future.
