A cell phone forensic investigation involving the late Mayor Park Won-soon’s death was ended in five months.
According to the police on the 23rd, the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency announced that Mayor Park’s forensic work on mobile phones was resumed on the 17th and ended that day. The forensic ended in the presence of Mayor Park’s bereaved family and representatives from the city of Seoul.
The police, who are investigating the case of Mayor Park’s case, completed imaging (copy) work on the iPhone XS, which was a commercial mobile phone for Mayor Park, on July 22nd, but the bereaved side of Mayor Park filed a quasi-appeal against forensics After applying to the court, investigations related to the lawsuit were stopped for more than four months.
The Northern District Court in Seoul accepted a quasi-appeal requesting a forensic stop from the bereaved side of Mayor Park, and dismissed the quasi-appeal on the 9th after reviewing it for more than four months.
Afterwards, the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency initiated a forensic operation on the imaging files stored in Mayor Park’s mobile phone stored in the police office, and began analyzing it on the 17th and ended the latest screening work.
After an agreement with the bereaved side, the police seem to have mainly confirmed text messages and KakaoTalk contents that were in the mobile phone before Mayor Park’s death. The period is estimated to be close to the time of death, the standard approved by the court.
In this forensic work, it seems that it was difficult to confirm the lawsuit and other suspicions, such as mayor Park’s sexual harassment, neglect and aid. This is because the court dismissed a seizure and search warrant filed on a mobile phone in connection with the suspicion of sexual harassment and neglect of Mayor Park Jeon Park by the police requested by the police.
Accordingly, the investigation by the police related to Mayor Park’s lawsuit is expected to close soon. In addition, the police have announced that they will close the investigation of former Mayor Park’s harassment aid within this month.
