It has been confirmed that Lotte Department Store will open the second store of the UK premium lifestyle editing shop’The Corn Lap Shop’ in Dongtan, which will open in June.

According to the distribution industry on the 26th, Lotte Department Store is planning to set up The Conran Shop in Dongtan. The Conran Shop 1 opened in the Gangnam branch of Lotte Department Store in November 2019.

The Conran Shop, founded in 1974 by British interior designer Sir Terence Orby Conran, is a living specialty store that sells lifestyle products such as furniture, home decor, kitchenware, bedding, art, and books.
It is located in famous department stores such as Chelsea in the UK and Lafayette in France, and operates 12 stores around the world.

The Dongtan branch, which Lotte Department Store opens in 7 years, will be established in Dongtan New Town, Hwaseong-si, Gyeonggi-do. With an operating area of ​​76,000m2, it is the largest in the southern region of Gyeonggi Province. It is connected to Dongtan Station of SRT (Suseo Express Railway) and GTX (Seoul Metropolitan Rapid Transit Railway), and is expected to attract young high-income people as it is close to major industrial complexes such as Samsung Electronics and Hyundai Motors. McKinsey, a management consulting firm, ranked Hwaseong in the 4th place as’the world’s seven richest cities in 2025′ and said that it is “a city that grows in the southern part of Seoul.”

Lotte’s super high-priced living store in Dongtan after Gangnam is because it appreciated its potential. Dongtan is a new city centered on young couples, and the demand for luxury goods and premium living products is high.

The living product group serves as a tribute to department stores. From January to November of last year, Lotte Department Store furniture product sales increased 13% year-on-year, and imported furniture brands such as Fritz Hansen, Cartel, and Natuzzi rose more than 28%.

Thanks to this atmosphere, the 1st Conran Shop, located on the 1st and 2nd floors of the new Lotte Gangnam branch, was also popular. The Lotte Gangnam branch, which had a strong image of a local department store, became a popular spot for living enthusiasts after The Conran Shop opened. According to Lotte Department Store, The Conran Shop No. 1 has been visited by about 1.6 million customers a year after opening.

This is the largest of the stores in the world, and luxury furniture brands such as Swiss Vitra, Finnish Artek, and American Nol are exhibited. A sofa worth 40 million won and lighting for 9 million won were sold. Lotte Shopping Vice Chairman Kang Hee-tae, who was the representative of the department store at the time of its inception, went to the local area and worked hard enough to attract it. Lotte Chairman Shin Dong-bin also visited the store and took care of the launch. Chairman Shin emphasized that “Lotte should try to show new lifestyles and cultures to customers.”
